Choosing a program

In-house vs after-school programmes

Same activity, very different logistics, cost and continuity. Neither option wins outright — it depends on what your child needs this term.

What the choice actually is

"In-house" means the programme runs inside the school day or as a school club. "After-school" means an outside provider running sessions on or off campus. Same sport, different machine behind it.

How to choose: four questions

  1. What does my child need right now — confidence, technique, or competition? Beginners usually need confidence first.
  2. What can our week actually absorb? A great programme you can't get to is a bad programme for you.
  3. Who is teaching, and what have they taught before?
  4. What happens after six months? Is there a stage two?

A combination that works well

Start in-house to find out whether the interest is real. Once your child has a practice habit, add a specialist block. That keeps the early cost low and puts the specialist money where motivation already exists.

What to insist on either way

The best programme is the one your child can attend consistently — not the one with the longest feature list.
