Safety
Drone safety for kids: rules every family should follow
Safety isn't a warning — it's a routine. Teach these before your child flies.
Before every flight
- Check registration — some drones must be registered by law. Know yours.
- Check the airspace — avoid airports, crowds and restricted areas.
- Check the gear — props, battery and frame in good shape, battery charged.
The four flight rules
- Keep it in sight at all times.
- Never fly over people, traffic or buildings.
- Don't push "max height or distance" — it's risky and often illegal.
- No flying in wind, rain or fog.
Supervision
For younger children, an adult stays present the whole time. Make a short pre-flight checklist your child says out loud every time — repetition turns rules into habits.
Safety education is part of drone learning, not an add-on.
General safety information, not legal advice. Always follow your local aviation authority's current rules.
